Why I Love Yoga

I was first drawn to yoga because it was fun and life-affirming. It was a way for me to artfully portray my authentic joy and cultivate a deeper passion for life. Learning to move my body with greater awareness and in accord with refined alignment principles has intensified my ability to discern a supportive undercurrent of unwavering energy moving through me. This has deepened my sense of humanity for myself and others and proves to infuse my life with an immense richness.

My yoga practice makes me feel stronger, more vibrant and creative.  I feel like I have the ability to make a change in the restrictions in my body so that I can feel more open and expressive. With this sense of freedom I become more sensitive to the energy flowing in my body and my awareness of the constant connection between myself and a greater energy becomes more expansive. I give myself with immense devotion to the practice and the practice takes care of me. I always feel more balanced, and I leave my mat with a soft smile and feeling better. I gauge my success in yoga, not by what postures that I may be able to perform, but by sensing that from each moment to moment I am more grounded in the present with a feeling of harmony and a knowing that all is well and good.

I continue to be intrigued by the possibilities of the body, as a refined constituent of consciousness, to express the beauty within. I am discriminating in my studentship, seeking out the highest quality of teachings from distinguished and gracious teachers and I approach the seat of the teacher with an attitude of humility and the intention to make a humble offering.
